Making the everyday impossible to ignore.

Everyday household items can pose some of the biggest burn risks for young children. Working pro bono with the Burns Support Group, we created a bold awareness campaign that transformed ordinary objects into unforgettable reminders that everyday burn hazards are hotter than they look.

Most people think serious burns happen around obvious dangers. But the reality is far more confronting - many of the burns suffered by young children happen during everyday moments at home. A hot cup of coffee. A bowl of noodles. A comforting hot water bottle. The Burns Support Group wanted to change that perception during National Burns Awareness Week by helping parents and caregivers recognise the risks hiding in plain sight.

A powerful insight

During the discovery phase of this project, we uncovered a simple but powerful truth: everyday burn hazards are hotter than they look.

Rather than relying on graphic imagery or fear-based messaging, we brought this insight to life by transforming familiar household objects into striking visual metaphors - everyday items engulfed in flames. The campaign stopped people in their tracks while remaining accessible, memorable and highly shareable.

Design with purpose

For us, this project was about more than producing eye-catching creative. It was about using design to help prevent life-changing injuries.

We're incredibly proud to have partnered with the Burns Support Group on a campaign that shines a light on an issue affecting hundreds of New Zealand families every year, helping raise awareness that some of the biggest dangers are often the ones we least expect.
